| Whether
you have an agent or not, it's important to promote yourself. There are
lots of ways to get your face out there. One of the best ways is to have your own website where you can upload your headshots and resume. If you use one of the social networking sites like myspace or facebook, make sure your page is just for acting. It needs to be professional. There are also networking sites in different cities where you can meet up with other people in the industry. Sometimes they'll have mixers where you can get together and meet in the real world. People will post when they have a new project and are looking for others to help on their production. There are sites that you can sign up to become an extra. They'll send you an email when there's something local. There are other boards where you can look for jobs. Try to do as much work as possible, even if it's for free. It all looks good on your resume. Do work on student films, small no budget productions or make your own mini movies. Then you can post your work on your website. If you have an agent, let them know whenever you do any work. If you are trying to get an agent, send them a note letting them know you're still training, still working, still interested in the craft. If you do get work on something bigger, make sure you get your part listed on IMDB.com Everybody wants to hire people who are popular, so make yourself seem that way. If you want to work, make yourself look busy! |
